Lights On! Griffin Center Receives the Omni Light Award!

On Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 E. St. Louis mayor Alvin Parks issued a proclamation citing Griffin Center for it's excellent work in providing safe and enriching After-School opportunities for over 400 ohildren who reside in the city's public housing developments. He followed the proclamation with a visit to each of our sites as we hosted Open House. All Centers had a great attendance and the youth who provided the tours did an outstanding job. Griffin Center received the Omni Light Award given to recognize an outstanding after-school program provider by St. Louis 4 Kids on Wed.,Oct. 20 at the Lights On After-School luncheon.

About the Griffin Center

Griffin Center, an agency of Catholic Urban Programs, was founded in 1986. The parent agency has been in existence since 1971, serving the needs of the very poor, homeless, and indigent aged of the metro East St. Louis region.
