Our Accomplishments

  • 24 years of service touching over 9,500 children’s lives with education and recreation programs.
     
  • 550 different children ages 5-14 served at 4 centers; average enrollment at any one time was 500 in FY ‘09
     
  • 28 cultural, educational and recreational field trips
     
  • Educational advocates who work at connecting the homes, schools and centers through home visits working in the schools with our children and at the centers after school. Forty children in alternative educational settings in catholic Schools
     
  • Daily two-part nutritious snack for each child 500 children provided with book bags, school supplies and 400 with a complete outfit of clothing, shoes, socks and underwear.
     
  • Four staffed computer labs with internet connections
     
  • USA Road Trip:Route 254: Three five week summer day camps serving two nutritious meals per day.
     
  • Employed 2 full time and 35 part time staff; 14 tutors and utilized 8 Americorps volunteers, 2 foster grandparents, 15 SIUE Work Study students as well as numerous volunteers from the community.
     
  • Thirteen student workers were mentored in education and job skills in our Welfare to Work: a Step by Step Approach for Teens Program.
     
  • Numerous public housing families assisted with information, referral, counseling and direct assistance with rent, utilities and the basic necessities of life.
     
  • Annual internal outcomes assessment showed gains in academic and social skills.
